In September of this year, the Mid Cheshire Line chose to celebrate Rail 200 with a station-to-station baton walk, with over 100 people taking part.
As part of the legacy of this momentous achievement, we have decided to share these linear walks with you and here are the first five!
- Woodley to Stockport
- Manchester to Navigation Road
- Navigation Road to Altrincham
- Altrincham to Hale
- Hale to Ashley
We have plotted the maps using the OS Maps App and the links are included above – you shouldn’t need to download the App but if you do, you can easily access this in your usual way using the Apple Store or Google Play and is free to use – there is no need to take out a subscription if you don’t want to. Then all you need to do the is click on the links above and you’re away!
We have also compiled some basic instructions to help you along the way.
There walks were kindly plotted, tested and shared by volunteers along the line. They were then transferred onto OS Maps by the MCCRP. Some supporting instructions were also written to use alongside the maps and these can be accessed by clicking on the above link. We have done our very best to be as accurate as we ca but there is a word of warning, that there may be an error or two…. Could you do us a favour and let us know any changes that you think are necessary and we can alter accordingly?
We hope to produce these walks into our 4th walking booklet in the new year. If you’ve not seen the other 3, there is a pdf link below for each one, or you can get an actual booklet at one of the staffed stations along the line.
Within a few weeks, we will add some more of the walks for you to enjoy. In the meantime, get your walking boots on and get out there!.
If you really enjoy walking, why not get in touch with Mid Cheshire Walkers via Facebook who organise regular walks in Cheshire and the surrounding areas.
The following are some of our previous walks, click to download and find out more:
Look out for the next instalment of walks, we’ll let you know when they’ll be launched onto the website via our website and social media so make sure you follow MCCRP!
