AUGUST ENGINEERING WORK

26th August 2012

Stockport Station and the Mid Cheshire Line will be affected by Engineering Work until 4.30pm on Sunday 26th August 2012.

Trains between Southport and Stockport/Chester will run between Southport and Manchester Piccadilly and between Altrincham and Chester with replacement buses running between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport and between Stockport and Altrincham.

Passengers should note that rail tickets to and from stations between Mouldsworth and Altrincham/Navigation Road are valid for travel on the Manchester Metrolink between Altrincham and Manchester Piccadilly/Victoria on Sundays.

The following is reported from the National Rail website as at 5th July 2012.

Northern Rail

The following changes will apply:

  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton will be replaced by buses between Manchester Piccadilly and Hazel Grove
  • Trains between Southport and Stockport / Chester will run between Southport and Manchester Piccadilly and between Altrincham and Chester
  • Replacement buses will run between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport and between Stockport and Altrincham
  • Passengers are advised that faster journeys are available between Manchester Piccadilly and Altrincham using the Metrolink tram service
  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Macclesfield / Stoke-on-Trent are replaced by buses throughout
  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Alderley Edge / Crewe (via Stockport) will not run
  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Alderley Edge (via Manchester Airport) will be extended to run to / from Crewe
  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe (via Manchester Airport) will run to the normal timetable

Arriva Trains Wales

It is not yet known how Arriva Trains Wales will be affected by this engineering work.

CrossCountry

The following changes will apply:

  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth / Paignton / Bristol Temple Meads will be diverted and will not call at Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent or Stafford
  • Buses will run between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent / Stafford calling at Macclesfield

East Midlands Trains.

The following changes will apply:

  • Trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich will be diverted via Romiley and will not call at Stockport
  • Replacement buses will run between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport

First TransPennine Express

The following changes will apply:

  • Trains between Manchester Airport and Sheffield / Cleethorpes will be diverted and will not call at Stockport
  • Replacement buses will run between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport
  • Passengers at / for Stockport are advised to travel via Manchester Piccadilly

Virgin Trains

The following changes will apply:

  • Replacement buses will run between Stockport and Wilmslow and between Wilmslow and Macclesfield
  • Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston will be diverted not calling at Stockport
  • Trains routed via Wilmslow will be diverted into / out of Manchester Piccadilly via Styal
  • Trains routed via Stoke-on-Trent will be diverted into / out of Manchester Piccadilly via Kidsgrove, Alsager and Crewe
  • Some trains will call additionally at Wilmslow
