Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham tours Altirncham Interchange

On April 2nd Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham came down to Altrincham Interchange to meet Jools Townsend Chief Executive of Community Rail Network and to see for himself what community rail looks like in action. Some of the volunteers from Friends of Altrincham Interchange and Community Rail Officer Sarah Muir were also invited and had an opportunity to talk to Andy Burnham about their work.

The Mayor was given a tour of the Interchange where he was shown the new Altrincham running in board on Pl.4, artwork created by local children in the poster case, the history panel, knitted flowers by the Tommy silhouettes and the aerial photo of the Interchange over in the bus station.

The visit coincides with the governments unveiling of its Better Connected Transport Strategy which shines a spotlight on how grass roots groups can shape the future of transport.
