RMT STRIKE ACTION

The announcement by the RMT Union regarding confirmation of strike action on Friday 28th April 2017 means there will be revised workings of services on the Mid Cheshire Line and beyond.

Trains will operate between Chester and Altrincham only but there will be a replacement bus service between Altrincham and Stockport

Note Northern tickets will NOT be accepted on Manchester Metrolink services unless booked through to Metrolink stations.

Apart from monthly season tickets, Northern tickets will not be valid on Metrolink unless they are under normal circumstances.

If you are considering using the Manchester Metrolink from Altrincham, through tickets can be purchased from any National Rail station to any Metrolink station (the fares can be found on www.brfares.com ).

The Manchester Wayfarer ticket, which covers rail and Metrolink, is a good option if you are travelling from Northwich and stations towards Manchester, particularly the Over 60s version for £6. The adult version is £12.

The first train to depart Chester is 0635 and the last train 1659.

The first train to depart Altrincham is 0748 and the last train 1814.

Northern have provided these useful guidelines:
   – For up to date travel information please check your journery at www.northernrailway.co.uk
   – Alternatively, real time travel information can be obtained
     from http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/planjourney/search
   – Check before travelling via the above websites is the overriding message
   – Check out other modes of transport to your workplace, such as buses / trams / park & ride
   – Consider employee car sharing and car park facilities in your local area

Remember Northern services will be limited on 28th April due to RMT Union strike action with a revised timetable in place

Trains will be busier, with reduced services.
