On the morning of the 3rd of July invited guests assembled firstly at Delamere and then at Mouldsworth stations to celebrate the artwork created by 2 local schools which are now on display at these stations.
Delamere C of E Primary Academy created artwork for their local station Delamere which was printed on to aluminium panels for the Platform 2 waiting shelter.
These colourful pictures depict the local scenery and landmarks and will hopefully be on display to be viewed by rail users for many years to come.
School pupils and Arts Council representatives Ellie and Esme attended with their soon to be new head teacher Juliette Inskip. The pair cut the red ribbon to the applause of the other guests.
Lead volunteer Dave Sutton came up with the idea to produce the platform art last year and approached the school who were keen to help
Lead volunteer David Sutton said “I thought the artwork was sensational and showed off our community, its school, station and forest,”
The morning continued with a second unveiling at Mouldsworth station just one stop along the line. This time it was to celebrate the work of pupils from Ashton Hayes Primary School whose pictures, again printed on to aluminium panels can be found on Platform 1 and in the Platform 2 waiting shelter.
Lead volunteer Clair Hogg had the idea for working with Ashton Hayes Primary to produce the platform art. Clair’s son Eric who attends the school kicked off proceedings by delivering a fantastic speech and then cut the red ribbon on behalf of his fellow school pupils.
Eric said “As a Mouldsworth station volunteer and pupil at Ashton Hayes Primary School I was very proud to unveil the artwork created by my school. We all enjoyed drawing trains and the countryside. We hope everyone enjoys the artwork for many years to come.”
We would like to thanks Delamere C of E Primary Academy and Ashton Hayes Primary Schools for producing such fantastic art works.
Thanks also go to those who funded and supported the projects- Cross Country, Northern, Mid Cheshire CRP, Johnsons(print and design company) and the station volunteers at Delamere and Mouldsworth who not only started everything off but work hard year-round to keeping these stations looking their best.
Well done and thank you to all involved!
