Let’s get started with how it all went for the first Music Train of 2026 running on the Mid Cheshire Line from Chester to The Golden Pheasant at Plumley on 23 April.
We had an amazing night. A total of 42 people joined us on the train to enjoy the music of BandaRama. They treated train travellers to a special ‘Tracks of our Years’ set that celebrated the golden era of the 1960s and 1970s. Playing acoustic versions of a selection from a mixed musical menu including Beatles songs, the band – Rose and Adrian – entertained the audience admirably! Their sound engineer joined at the pub to ensure they could share their music throughout the pub.
You’ll see from the photos that we had such a great time. The Pheasant welcomed the musicians and audience and made sure everyone was served food and drink in plenty of time to catch the return train to Chester. The lights did go out on a couple of occasions on the return journey which did not deter the band or the audience as they lit up their phones to add to the atmosphere!

So, dates are sorted. Venues are primed and we are in the process of getting the music in place, then we are set to go! We you just wanted to give you the ‘heads up’ so you can get the dates in your diary for the Music Trains you want to join.
We have listened to YOUR feedback of previous Music Train experiences and have now….
- Avoided relying on the last train of the day to take you home – just in case!
- Minimised the distance from the railway station to the venue
- Tied something different – so we have a new venue, a new time of day and we are currently chatting with some different musicians to entertain you
And of course, continuing to work with the excellent bands who have entertained you on the train over the years.
So, pop the dates in your diary and watch this space for the bands and timings of each event. You can then decide when you would like to join us for the 2026 Music Trains along the Mid Cheshire Line!

Why Do We Do This?
Music Trains are arranged by volunteers on behalf of the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership to promote
the Mid Cheshire Line. We want people to use the line, enjoy the experience and come back again –
that’s our sole purpose. The train line is for everyone to use, and we actively encourage this. So, we run the
Music Trains, we produce booklets of circular walks from every station along the line and advertise many
events and activities that take place during the year, and you can take the train to get there.

Changes Might Happen
It is always possible that train times might change and a small possibility that a Music Train might have to be cancelled at short notice. In that case we will email everyone on the mailing list to let people know – and pop a note on the Community Rail Partnership website and station noticeboards, as well as on our social media accounts @MidCheshire CRP.
So, just keep an eye out in case there are any changes to the planned events
