On Sunday 30th November there was a gathering at Altrincham and District Scouts and Explorers Unit to celebrate the recently installed art panels at nearby Navigation Road Station.
Community rail officer Sarah Muir and Bev, Pat and Mike Battman from Friends of Navigation Road dropped down to admire the finished panels and have a hotdog and cuppa at the scout hut.
The art panels which mark Railway 200, the 200th year of the modern railway, feature each stop along the Mid Cheshire Line form Chester through to Manchester Picadilly. The young people had fun exploring places along the line and their artworks show the notable landmarks of each place.
The project was funded by Northern, Transport for Greater Manchester, Community Rail Network and the Mid Cheshire CRP.
We would like to say a huge thank you to scout leader Tom Hartley and all the young people who worked on this project! It has really brightened up the station and added something of interest for rail users to read as they wait for their train.
