Thomas Brassey Statue Unveiled in Chester

Rail partnership directors were on the guest list to witness the unveiling of a Thomas Brassey Statue at Chester station on 28th May to mark Railway 200-the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. Civil Engineer Thomas Brassey not only built Chester Station but railways and railway related infrastructure all over Britain and the world. The statue, cast in Bronze, shows him studying plans whilst standing on a piece of railway track.

Hundreds of onlookers gathered outside this iconic station to witness special guest Prince Richard, The Duke of Gloucester unveil the statue.

The event has been the culmination of years of planning by The Thomas Brassey Society who fund raised to in order to have the statue erected. Md Cheshire CRP are very proud to have contributed funding to help commemorate Thomas Brassey with a statue which will hopefully remain in place for many years to come.
