ALL ABOARD HALE 150

It’s full steam ahead for Hale’s 150th railway celebrations.

And organisers are inviting everyone to get on board to enjoy and support a bumper day of fun to commemorate the arrival of the railway in the village.

The event – called ‘Festival by the Clock’ – will take place on May 12 from 2 to 6pm, next to Hale Station.

There will be music, games, morris dancers, a parade, the crowning of the Hale King and Queen of the May, stalls, and a food festival.

Businesses and community groups are also being urged to take a stall or help sponsor the event.

Bowdon (Peel Causeway) Station was opened by the Cheshire Midland Railway on May 12, 1862, when the railway opened from Altrincham to Knutsford.

In 1863 the line was extended to Northwich and was used to carry salt, which was essential to the meat trade in Manchester and the main reason for this part of the line.
