Scholar season tickets introduced by train company Northern Rail on the Mid Cheshire Line mean that scholars travelling to school/college along the line receive 50% discount for those under 16, and 75% for those older when compared to buying tickets every day.
John Oates, Chairman of MCRUA/MCCRP says
“Northern trialled these scholar season tickets with the large discounts between Altrincham and Knutsford for Knutsford High School scholars two years ago due to the 100s using the train every day and the difficulty of selling them all daily tickets. We hear this has proved a huge success with season ticket sales up more than 10-fold. Not surprising given the huge discounts being given.
