Mowtown & Brotherhood of Man

Anderton Boat Lift
18th August 2017 - 19th August 2017

What nicer way to relax on a summer’s evening than listening to good music with a drink in hand, by the river?

For its third Summer ‘Lift Off’ concerts, the exciting musical line-up at the Cheshire’s Anderton Boat Lift, based in Northwich, will headline on Friday 18 August with a ‘Marrs to Motown’ tribute band.

The full line-up for the Lift Off Concerts is:

Friday 18 August – ‘Marrs to Motown’ with Manchester-based Martin Cost. He will start with a soul and Motown medley, including songs like ‘I heard it on the grapevine’, ‘Higher and Higher’ and ‘My Girl’. In the second half, there will be a high-energy Bruno Marrs tribute, featuring all Marrs’ biggest hits.

Support act: Tijuna Death Squad, a four-man Northwich-based ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ band with a ‘Mexican twist’.

Saturday 19 August – Brotherhood of Man and Bucks Fizz

Brotherhood of Man first became known internationally in the early 1970s with hits like ‘United we stand’ and ‘Where are you going my love’.  The group won the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Save your kisses for me’ (selling in excess of five million copies and was number one in 33 different countries). The group followed on with two more British number one's in the shape of ‘Angelo’ and ‘Figaro’. They also had a string of other hits including ‘My Sweet Rosalie’, ‘Oh Boy (the mood I'm in)’, Middle of the night’ and ‘Beautiful Lover’.

Bobby G’s Bucks Fizz had three number one records, over 20 chart hits, 40 million record sales and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with ‘Making Your Mind Up’. Although the line up has changed during the years, the lead singer Bobby G is still there and the show continues to be slick, fast-moving and high energy.

Bucks Fizz will perform many of its hits including "Land of make believe", "My camera never lies", “Now those days are gone” and “New beginning” plus music from the 50s/60s/70s & 80sand hits from Motown, Billy Joel and Meatloaf.

Support Act: Reminds – a Northwich-based five-piece band - back by popular demand – will be the supporting act and will play covers of bands from the 1980s until now.
