"Legends of The Edge" brings to life the myths, legends and stories of that mysterious escarpment in North East Cheshire known as the edge of Alderley.

"Legends" brings to life the myths, legends, stories, lives and loves of that mysterious escarpment in North east Cheshire known as The Edge of Alderley. (made famous by Alan Garner in his book "The Weirdstone of Brisingamen").
The songs and instrumentals have been praised for their gothic beauty and includes songs of legendary wizards, sleeping knights, pagan festivals, characters from the 15th century up to 1940, enchanted wells, loves and lives found and lost. They illustrate the magic behind this wondrous place in words and songs enhanced by beautiful photographic images.
First performed in the 1980s, as "The Edge" at festivals and concerts, the performance was recorded by two different groups. The first, an acoustic version included Joe Beard, Steve Bradley, Tony Moss, Pat and Jamie Knowles, Les Renshaw, Di Robinson, Gerry Robinson and Dave Tarrant with guest appearance by Harry Boardman as the wizard.
In the late 80s, "The Edge" was recorded by folk rock band "King's Ransom" and broadcast on Mike Billington's folk show on BBC Radio Manchester with Mike providing narration and extra production using sound effects.
"The Edge" was written by Joe Beard of the legendary "Purple Gang" famous for their Transatlantic single "Granny takes a Trip" banned by the BBC for their misunderstanding of the song's title.
This new version of "The Edge" is performed by Joe Beard's new incarnation the group RADNOR comprising Rosa Sheard (vocals), Andy Stark (piano), Joe Beard (guitar, vocal), Sean Brennan (violin) and Mike Billington (narration, vocal, recorders, crumhorns, bowed psaltery).
